Favorites/Bookmarks for all

Saturday, March 18th, 2006

I am having this problem: i use more than 1 web-browsers just because one web-browser has more advantage than the others. Yet i’m facing a problem that my favorites/bookmarks in one browsers are not in the others. Kinda annoying, don’t you think?

The idea to the world (i don’t trust my self to do this) is to create a "small" code in the programm  as an extra feature that allow web-browsers to grab or sent favorites/bookmarks from the other web-browsers - e.g. a saved site in firefox will also be shown in safari or flock or opera and vice versa.

This would mean crossed web-browser platform compatibility needs to be improved. In that way, i think it would be also possible to improve web-browsers different interpretation of codes. Less annoying work to adjust website design for an amature programmer like me.

Pornography in Indonesia

Saturday, March 4th, 2006

I really think religion and government should be separated. The more i think about it, the stronger i have the feeling that religion is a poison to the society once it’s forced implemented. Indonesia, my beloved country, is obviously being over acted on preventing people from “exposing” their parts of body. Why would they care about what people wear, when the system is sickly corrupted? It pisses me off. Do they think by preventing people from wearing minimum clothes would help them combat corruption?

Yes according to the Jakarta post if you’re caught exposing parts of you body, which are:thighs, hips, breasts and navel, you would be either punished by paying fine Rp 200 million (US$21,000) or jailed. And you know what, i think it’s discrimination? Only women would expose those parts of body. Even worst, this issue is already covered by existing laws and the Criminal Code. Unbelievable how stupid people can be. Look, this gonna kill our traditional culture as argued by the Jakarta post.

As Indonesian, i can understand where it comes from, but it’s because they are not open minded enough and thought it would be easier to rule by declaring the flag of religion. It would scare off people eventually. But don’t you think they should’ve looked at other religions perspectives as well, instead of using the mask of one religion only? I thought Indonesia acknowledged 5 religions (at least)?

Addition to the article, it’s also strictly forbidden to kiss in a public, living together before marriage and “attractive” dance movements. They must be joking me.

Keyboard template

Friday, March 3rd, 2006

I wonder if such thing exist. I am thinking of getting a template for my keyboard that would make it easier for me to type in both English and German. On top of my head, it should made out of silicon or sth like one of those iPod fancy-colorful-covers. It has to be light, thin, has a shape that would fit over my keyboard with a German alphabet written exactly over on top of each keys. In that way i would “magically” has a German keyboard.

The idea occurred to me since my iBook allows me to switch from English characters to germans, but i of course don’t know where the German characters are on the keyboard (my keyboard is English). Maybe if i were a 10-finger-typist, i wouldn’t have this problem. It bothers me a lot sometimes.

I looked up the German keyboard iBook and it has exactly the same position of keys as mine. It shouldn’t be a problem at all to create such template, no?

I’ve been looking for it since i got my iBook, unfortunately fat luck. Maybe you can help me finding one or maybe someone can tell apple to do this for their users. In fact this idea applies for all kind of computers. Don’t you guys ever have this problem? Hopefully i could get a good feedback for this idea.

New challenge for hackers

Wednesday, March 1st, 2006

Oh wow, it’s amazing… Windows vista is a TOTALY new OS not only the look and feel, but the whole system. Some of the new and mind blowing features is the "major kernel overhaul". This is exactly the point that would make vista better than XP not only because of it’s fancy 3D effects interface (which has been done by OSX by the way), but also the kernel revolution. This would make vista a new born baby-OS. The article from extremetech.com Why Vista won’t suck would explain a lot about advantages on vista.

It will be harder for viruses and trojans to hack vista machine which is to my argument once 2/3 of world wide computer users switched to vista, that’s gonna be it. Another good feature is efficient job of the kernel from the improvement of the cleaned up "heap" fragmentation. Power management queries, as described, sounds to me like you might need a new hardware to switch to vista. If you’re interested on the the SuperFetch technology as the key improvement to the root file system in vista then you can read it here. I believe SuperFetch is a good thought being put in vista.

I also read one forum talking about that article above. Many questioning vista. It’s either gonna be a breaking OS on PCs or a big disaster, which is mostly come from people expectation of having a better OS than XP.
